It’s the 15th century, and wireless communications are flourishing. The Cardinal, Sir Dickcheney, sensing imminent invasion from the enemy, has instructed his trusted servant Walker (for centuries known only as “W”) to deliver a message to a military outpost on the remote frontiers of the kingdom, 500 miles away. “Prepare to attack.” reads the message. W’s problem: he has to get it there in 24 hours. His only option: wireless. He runs up to the tower where the master pigeon trainer, Rummy, awaits. They exchange a secret password and W hands Rummy the message. Rummy affixes the message to one of the prize pigeons and off it flies.

Wi-fi has exploded across Britain this year, and is set to continue growing. The capability to improve mobile working means that wireless technology is allowing networked enterprises to tap into the true potential of their employees. But mobile users accessing the internet from corporate machines in Wi-fi hotspots are often doing so with little or no security controls in place. This could lead to network infection, which can have dramatic financial and operating consequences. With the average corporate enterprise infection costing an estimated £33,000 to repair, preventing infection at Wi-fi hotspots is a critical concern for many organisations.

Or alternatively if you possess a degree of moral flexibility, you could use this book to learn about hacking into said networks.
