For: Scored superior in all categories

Against: Possible scalability concerns because of the unit's hardware

Verdict: Easy to use, well put together, free support and superior documentation make this offering our Best Buy
The appliance offers several types of user authentication as well. The S10 also offers an IPsec-based VPN. This offering truly scales for any size organisation because features, such as a PPPOE client on the WAN interface, allow the device to work in small- and medium-sized enterprises.

The installation of the S10 was as simple as any unit we’ve seen. The product has a total of five interfaces, which allow multiple LAN connections to different switches or hubs for greater internal connectivity. The entire configuration takes place via a web interface, which is also the same web interface that clients use to gain access to internal services.

The web interface is uncluttered and very well laid out. From start to finish we were able to configure SSL-based VPN access to a Microsoft SMB-based file share in less than 10 minutes. The interface is so logical that most administrators will have little trouble.

The S10 arrives with two printed guides. The administration guide is well written, and the second guide, for Mac OS clients, is also well-written.

Support is offered through phone and is freely included with the purchase of the SSL VPN unit. The company’s website also includes a support portal with documentation and firmware downloads.

The pricing for the S10 SSL VPN appliance is US$599, and when the number of features is considered the unit is a tremendous value.
