This product features a fingerprint scanner for biometrics, but is also capable of managing user passwords, smart cards, proximity cards and virtual tokens. VeriSoft Single Sign-on is what it says it is. This product, aside from securing workstation logon via a fingerprint, allows users to set up single sign-on to applications and websites.

We found this product easy to use. Both the server and client were installed with easy setup wizards that took just minutes. Once set up, the server has a management console for easy administration of users, policies and authentication methods.

After the client is set up, a user is guided through a simple registration process and enrollment is complete. On the client, there is also a small configuration tool that can be launched from the tray. Thus, the user can quickly and easily set their own single sign-on applications or websites.

This product performed very well throughout our testing. The integration with Active Directory is seamless and we did not have to reconfigure or change anything. The administration console takes over for the Active Directory Users and Computers console and all administration can be done directly from there.

There is also a silent deployment feature for switching on of the clients via group policy, which makes installing enterprise-wide quick and easy.

Documentation for this product consists of a large administrator’s guide in a PDF document. The guide contains all aspects of the program — from initial deployment and installation through managing policies and users. This guide is very well organised and easy to read with many screenshots and clear step-by-step instructions.

Support for this product is offered by phone and email. There is also a support section on the website with downloads, documentation, FAQs and enrollment tips.

At a price of US$2,400 for 50 users, this product is an excellent value for the money. It brings together biometrics and other authentication methods in one easy to manage and simple to
use deployment.
