Developed with security vendor, MailGuard PacNet CleanWeb provides management, control and reporting of the internet web browsing resource in organisations.

According to Dennis Muscat, managing director at Pacific Internet the product protects networks and systems against web based viruses, trojans and threats. It also provides detailed reporting and management of staff access to the web at work.

“PacNet CleanWeb is managed, deployed and scaled by PacNet and MailGuard with the filtering servers hosted within PacNet Australian data centres. PacNet CleanWeb re-directs all of the company’s staff browsing through a filter/proxy server network with local nodes across the country,” he said.

“We’re aware of the vulnerability many businesses face with staff increasingly accessing the web for social networking sites such as Facebook and My Space. This is a threat to organisations both from a security and a productivity perspective.”

PacNet CleanWeb stops access to inappropriate sites by category (pornography,
gambling) and can control recreational downloads (movies, MP3s), the amount of bandwidth downloaded is substantially reduced and excess data bills can be audited, this translates to real financial savings, he said.

The Internet provider has already partnered with MailGuard to deliver the CleanMail solution twelve months ago. CleanWeb managed staff productivity and protected the organisation from malicious attacks via the web as well as potential litigation due to web browsing abuse, said Muscat.
