Partnership aims to prevent attacks on critical databases.
Database security firm Secerno has teamed up with network optimisation company F5 Networks to help organisations secure and streamline their networks.
Secerno's DataWall database activity monitoring and policy enforcement systems will now integrate with F5's BIG-IP Application Security Manager, which promises to join application security and traffic monitoring at the web and database tiers.
Databases are increasingly accessed through web-based applications, and many developers are encountering security and performance issues. The two companies hope that the partnership will enable them to jointly offer end-to-end application security.
This shared integration aims to give IT managers better policy control, auditing and access management.
To enhance security, the joint platform will share common reporting for web-based attempts to gain access to sensitive data, subvert the database or execute denial-of-service attacks.
Where attacks are detected, the identity of the user and the context of the attack will be shared between both applications, meaning that subsequent attacks from the same user can be immediately detected and shut down.
"We expect to see a growing increase in demand for database activity monitoring solutions that deliver greater visibility into the application layer [which is] a growing audit requirement," said Jeffrey Wheatman, research director at analyst firm Gartner.
